Spring Forward: What’s Trending in 2016?
By: Kristin McIntyre
To the fashion conscious, style evolution has influenced the dauntless fashion choices made by the new generation of swaggers and swagettes. The trend-follower and trend-setter are both equally significant in creating a balance of what’s current, what not to wear, and who’s wearing what.
Despite pre-season predictions theorized by veteran style icons, every year we push through the crowds to clinch our cheeks to a front row seat to view the season’s newest recycled trends. Unfortunately, this year is no different than the over-hyped H&M X Balmain collection we most recently witnessed. But what’s fashion without catastrophe?
Peep COSIGN’s 2016 style forecast showcasing a compilation of spring looks and you be the judge.
1.Creating a robust and mod appeal, bold and wide horizontal stripes are once again trending for women this season. Men designers did the exact opposite by taking a minimalistic approach, creating the illusion of a leaner structure with vertical stripes against neutral colors.
2.Mixing abstract prints is the most popular trend of the season for women. Walking art painted on flowy maxi and midi dresses evokes a sense of fashionable feminism and we are all for it. Colorful tribal and Aztec prints with layering pieces such as jackets and sweaters stepped the swag game up a notch for men this coming season.
3.Oversized coats and shorts in blue and khaki color palettes are trending for men who are not afraid to get in touch with their inner Kanye. Restructured and resized denim pieces including bustiers, dresses, and trench coats are making a unique comeback this season with a quirky twist. Finally, denim pieces with some personality!
