COSIGN Her: How Shaunda Musick Found Her Voice in Sports and Never Looked Back

If you’ve been to a major sporting event in Dallas–Fort Worth recently, chances are you’ve heard Shaunda Musick before you’ve seen her.

Whether she’s hyping up a stadium crowd, hosting a major draft event, or representing some of the biggest franchises in sports, Musick has built a reputation for bringing energy, professionalism, and personality to every stage she steps on. From the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers to the Dallas Wings and beyond, her voice has become part of the soundtrack of sports in North Texas.

But Musick will tell you that the path to sports broadcasting wasn’t part of some perfectly mapped-out childhood dream.

In fact, it was more like fate quietly guiding her in the right direction.

“Sports broadcasting came to me from what I can only describe as divine intervention,” Musick says. “A changed major, a lifelong love of sports, the gift of gab, and some really great guidance once I decided on my path.”

Looking back, she jokes that the signs were always there.

“It’s like I had been working toward my career my whole life without even realizing it.”

Born and raised in Arlington, Musick grew up surrounded by the culture and energy of North Texas sports. Arlington sits at the heart of the Metroplex, offering access to opportunity, education, and some of the most passionate sports fans in the country.

For Musick, that environment helped shape the confidence and ambition that would later carry her onto some of the biggest stages in sports.

“Arlington is such a special place to me,” she says. “It’s a huge part of my story.”

That hometown foundation helped her thrive both personally and professionally, even earning her recognition as part of Arlington’s prestigious 40 Under 40. But the path to broadcasting didn’t fully reveal itself until she was already in college at the University of Texas at Arlington.

What started as curiosity slowly evolved into passion.

“I hope anyone reading this understands that it’s never too late to pursue your passion,” Musick says.

That mindset has carried her through a career that continues to expand in exciting ways. Today, Musick represents several of the region’s most recognizable franchises and brands, including the Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers, Dallas Wings, Dallas Pulse, and Cheer America. Her work extends beyond sports arenas as well—hosting corporate events, awards ceremonies, fashion shows, and major activations across the country.

But at the heart of it all is one thing: connecting with audiences.

“Delivering important messages is what I love most,” Musick says. “Every client is trusting me to bring their vision to life, and building that connection with the audience brings me so much joy.”

For Musick, hosting is about more than just reading a script or announcing the next moment. It’s about creating an experience.

And when that experience unfolds in front of thousands of fans, preparation matters.

Before every event or game, Musick makes sure she’s fully dialed in. There are meetings with the production team, rehearsals to review scripts and run-of-show details, and a clear understanding of the event’s flow. But once the lights turn on and the crowd fills the stadium, she leans into the natural charisma that made her a perfect fit for the job in the first place.

“It’s my mission to bring energy and happiness in everything I do,” she says. “Fans deserve the best experience possible.”

Over the years, Musick has had plenty of moments where the magnitude of her career hit her all at once.

Hosting the MLB Draft. Working the Super Bowl. Making her ESPN debut.

Those are the kinds of milestones that remind her just how far the journey has taken her.

“I’m incredibly fortunate to do what I do,” Musick says. “Every team, brand, and venue that trusts me to represent their story means a lot.”

While the sports world has historically been dominated by men, Musick says she’s grateful for the many women who paved the way for her—and proud to now be part of the next generation continuing that legacy.

“It means so much to me to be a woman in sports,” she says. “If I can be a strong representative for girls and women who want to follow this path, then mission accomplished.”

She’s also quick to recognize the many mentors and supporters—both women and men—who helped open doors throughout her career.

Success in sports, like success in any industry, rarely happens alone.

Today, Musick is also witnessing something exciting happening across the industry: the continued growth of women’s sports.

From expanding leagues to new professional teams across Dallas–Fort Worth, opportunities for women athletes and professionals are growing in ways that weren’t possible just a decade ago.

“It’s been incredible watching more and more women step into their skill sets,” Musick says. “And seeing professional women’s sports grow right here in DFW has been amazing.”

Having the chance to be part of several inaugural seasons and new launches has only made the experience more meaningful.

For Musick, representing her hometown in these spaces adds another layer of pride.

“Being homegrown means I’m not just working these games—I’m a fan,” she says. “These teams are part of my DNA.”

From childhood memories cheering in the stands to now helping lead the energy of game day itself, the journey has come full circle.

But if you ask Musick what keeps her grounded, the answer is simple: authenticity.

For young women hoping to enter sports media, broadcasting, or entertainment, she believes the most important thing they can do is embrace what makes them unique.

“You’ve got to be yourself,” she says. “Everyone has that magic something that makes them uniquely them.”

In an industry where it can be tempting to imitate those who came before you, Musick encourages aspiring broadcasters to take inspiration—but still carve their own lane.

“You’ll never achieve authenticity by trying to replicate someone else.”

That message feels especially fitting during Women’s History Month, a time dedicated to celebrating women who are carving space for themselves in industries that once overlooked them.

For Musick, the phrase “creating space” resonates deeply.

“There’s a seat for everyone,” she says. “So never stop working toward your goals.”

As her career continues to grow, Musick also makes a point to celebrate the women who inspire her along the way. One woman she proudly #COSIGNs is her longtime best friend, Liz Dailey.

Dailey, a Licensed Nursing Facility Administrator and social worker, has spent her career advocating for and caring for those in long-term care facilities. Musick describes her as a relentless achiever—someone who continues to climb professionally while showing up fully for her family and community.

“She’s been my best friend for over 25 years and has been the most incredible support in everything I do,” Musick says. “She’s a highly motivated administrator who never stops setting new goals for herself.”

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Musick admires the way Dailey balances her work with family life as a devoted wife and loving mother of two.

“Watching her grow and succeed continues to inspire me every day,” Musick says.

And that spirit of sisterhood is exactly what this moment is about—women uplifting women, cheering for one another the same way Musick cheers for fans on game day.

Because for Shaunda Musick, success isn’t just about being on the mic.

It’s about using that voice to celebrate others along the way.
