The drinks were strong and the air smelled like Hennesy at the Collective Status DTX 1 year anniversary party last night. With all events and collaborations under it’s belt, the brand has established itself as a staple of Dallas culture, it’s hard to believe the barbershop/tattoo parlor/event space/jewelry store/shoe and clothing boutique has only been around for one year.Although the party was a celebration of the accomplishments of Collective Status, the event was also meant to thank the community as Benjamin, mastermind behind the concept space, tells us.
“Dallas has been extremely supportive, we just wanted to say thank you and give our appreciation back. [We met] a lot of really great people here, there are some amazing people out here in Dallas. There are hustlers there are people trying to get it and I love that, I love to support them and they support me.”
The packed event featured tunes by DJ ASAP, the Never Satisfied Winter release and did we mention that Hennesy was almost pouring from the ceiling? It’s safe to say that if you missed it, you missed out. But do not fret, Collective Status DTX is here to stay. 2015 has been a good year and 2016 promises to be even better. With the marked success of Collective Status and the brand they’ve established, they plan to keep contributing to the culture that makes Dallas great.
“[What do we have planned for 2016?] A lot. A lot of events, a lot of of really dope drops, a lot of dope collabs, we in 2016 plan to team up with the people that are doing the most in Dallas and give the most to Dallas and become that spot where [you know] there’s something you can’t get anywhere else,” Benjamin shared.
Who does Benjamin cosign? All the hometown hustlers doing their thing.
“Off the rip I rock with my Never satisfied people. Radio is a good friend of mine aside from that he’s a hustler and he’s giving other people jobs and I respect that. My man Jazz with Understated doing his thing. El Chuey is doing his thing. Matrimony and Subverse, they make some dope products. There’s another brand called Kiko, they have some dope products, they are very fashion forward. Those brands I have a lot of respect for.”
