In the world of beauty and self-expression, Erika Martinez stands as a true artisan, wielding her skills to redefine the canvas of scalps through the transformative art of Scalp Micropigmentation (SMP). As a featured artist in La Vida COSIGN, Erika invites us into her realm, where every stroke of her needle is a brushstroke in the creation of confidence, empowerment, and a profound sense of self. Join us in this exclusive journey as we explore the craftsmanship and passion behind Erika’s work, unveiling the artistry that lies in the details of Scalp Micropigmentation.

Scalp micropigmentation is a cosmetic tattoo procedure designed to camouflage the effects of balding. It can add density to thinning hair or it give off a natural short buzzed cut look giving you a youthful appearance.

Erika, the leading artist at Fort  Worth SMP, is double certified in Scalp Micropigmentation as well as an experienced barber giving her an advantage in knowing how to perfect “the look”.

Hello Erika, let’s get to know you better. If a stranger asked you ,“Who are you and what guy do ?”What would you tell him or her?

Hi, my name is Erika Martinez, I’m the owner of Fort Worth Scalp Micropigmentation, the first stand alone SMP clinic in DFW, and an award winning artist with almost four years of experience. I have honed my skills and techniques to deliver exceptional results and I take pride in the satisfaction of my clients .

2024 is right around the corner and as a professional on your industry you strive to get better. What’s your plan to grow or continue to improve yourself in 2024?

My plan for 2024 is to continue to grow my brand, a big goal of mine is to continue educating people on what Scalp Micropigmentation is and how it can benefit them. I also want to continue to advance my techniques and stay informed on the latest advancements in the industry.

Outside of the industry, what has been your biggest obstacle in business and how did you overcome it?

One of my biggest obstacles is facing the dopamine deficit stage , I hate to admit it but it’s a real thing, I have to be working on something to feel good.

What is a motivational quote or aspiration you live by and why?

“It all begins and ends in your mind . What you give power to has power over you.” – Leon Brown

Mental and physical health is extremely important, as an artist how do you keep your sanity and make sure you are taking care of yourself?

This has been a challenge for me, being a single mom and owner of a business can get overwhelming and life gets hard to balance, but I embrace challenges and as an opportunity to grow , I take time to self reflect on my thoughts and I surround myself with a small but positive circle.

Family is very important to us here at La Vida COSIGN, what is one thing your family has thought you?

My family has taught me loyalty, love and they also taught me that sometimes, the things that are not necessarily the most comfortable are still the right thing to do .

Name one person you give #COSIGN in your industry and why do you think that person deserves to be feature with your peers?

Lily Benitez the owner of Blade craft Academy in Deep Ellum , she is one of the most genuine people I know, I admire her for being so involved in the community and standing strong with her beliefs. Blade Craft is also one of the only barber school that really caters to Veterans and takes pride in the craft. Definitely check her out @bladecraftbarber.
