ABC has taken over TV sets as well as Twitter and Facebook feeds with their hit show Scandal that airs on Thursdays. It’s safe to say the show is America’s addiction, and the stars of the show Kerry Washington (Olivia Pope) and Tony Goldwyn (President Fitzgerald Grant III) graced the cover of Entertainment Weekly displaying the chemistry between the two characters. The show gets over 220,000 tweets per episode, and Kerry Washington was shocked to learn of the fans the show has accumulated. Mary J. Blige, Oprah Winfrey, and Lena Dunham are all fans and Kerry told the EW “Bill Clinton was another person where I was like, ‘What?! You watch Scandal?! I feel like it happens at least once a week — that I am totally floored by somebody who watches the show.” With the May 16th finale approaching the executive producer, Betsy Beers, assures us of more to come by saying, “ If people think we’re burning through story now, they’re going to be very shocked at what happens in the next few episodes.” Shonda Rhimes, the show’s creator, states her feeling by saying “I feel like The West Wing brought us Washington as we’d all want it to be. And this show brings us Washington as we hope it would never be.”
A new episode of Scandal will air this Thursday on ABC at 9pm. Let’s see what Fitz and Liv have in store for us this week.
