Dallas-based Organization Hosts Carne Asada-Inspired Community Event to Showcase the LatinXCulture in the DFW Metroplex With an Authentic Experience On May 29
DALLAS, TEXAS (March 2022)–Carne Asada Fest, a local annual festival centered on representing andcelebrating LatinX culture, is kicking it up for their second annual festival atGilley’s Southside Ballroom.On May 29, Carne Asada will host a follow-up to their inaugural festival featuring local talent and businesses to bring the community together through the love of cultural food and music.
“Growing up in my family, parties were Carne Asadas, which is a social gathering similar to a barbecue,that would focus on celebrating the moments we had with each other, ” said Founder and Creator of CarneAsada Fest, Sonia Kilo. “I wanted to provide that same experience of our culture to the city of Dallas, in themost authentic way possible.”
The last festival brought in 1,200 attendees to the Sons of Hermann Hall.This year, attendees can expectan elevated Latin experience from the authentic food vendors, live music, games, and more-which allresembles what the state fair provides, but centered around the culture. In Latin culture, it is alsoencouraged to spendtime together as a family and celebrate special moments as a unit. With the eventbeing centered around community, it is family-friendly.
The event boasts a power-packed, diverse lineup of musicians includingrapper, Slim Thug; musical duo,Nina Sky;Texas-nativerapper,Paul Wall; hip-hop artist, BO Bundy;DJ Kane from the Kumbia Kings,local rapper, Big Tuck, and more. Local DJs will be spinning throughout the event, includingDJ Madd, DJUneeq, andDJ Albert G. There will also be 25+ food vendors for attendees to purchase meal items fromincludingPizza Patron, Candi Mex,Dona Licha Cocina, Borracho Miche Mix,Jazzy’s Tacos, CherosPupuseria, and many more ranging from savory to sweet. On top of these festivities, there will also be an exclusive meet and greet withChris Perez from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m.
“We wanted to show that life is a celebration for all walks of life”, said Development of Operations, StephanieJoanette. “The fact that we get to do it for a second time on a bigger scale with people who are just aspassionate about that mission is goingto make for something magical.”
The Carne Asada kicks off at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 29 at Gilley’s Southside Ballroom located at 1135Botham Jean Boulevard, Dallas, TX 75215. Children attending are encouraged to give back to thecommunity as kids 12 and under can get in free with two canned goods donations that will be given to localfood pantries.
