Beyoncé and other celebrities have taken to social networks to show their support of gay marriage in light of the Supreme Court’s debate of Prop 8. Prop 8 prevents same sex couples of the right to marry legally in the state of California. The “Bow Down” singer posted two photos to her Instagram, one that read, “If you like it you should be able to put a ring on it. #WeWillUnite4MarriageEquality”. She also posted a photo of the equal sign that is another sign of equality for gay marriage. These posts have caused Bey controversy, which she’s not foreign to, because of her Christian beliefs.

Last year Beyonce’s husband, Jay-Z, spoke about the subject by saying. “I’ve always thought it as something that was still holding the country back. What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. It’s no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination, plain and simple.”
