Retailer, Zara has made a recent move towards the tech world. Radio frequency identification (RFID) will be used on Zara apparel and accessories in the future to help keep track of stock. The use of these high-tech chips will be to keep count of the merchandise that sells the most, and the merchandise that does not sell so well. Employees of the spanish retail store will remove the chip during the checkout process at the end of all shoppers visit to Zara. The RFID chips will be located in security tags that each product will have attached.

Making it easier to find out if your size is in stock or not, is one of the biggest perks of the in-store technology plan. Employees are able to use a handheld device to check stock for shoppers according to the high tech chips that are placed on Zara apparel and accessories. When a Zara associate checks stock for shoppers, they are also able to inform you on if the item is available online or at another location to purchase the products on your Zara wish list.

The birth of RFID for Zara stores was in the year of 2013. The word on the street is that all 2000+ locations will be using radio frequency identification by 2016.
