Who is Jamie Dionne?

Jamie Dionne is a brand. A hardworking, self motivated artist whose main goal is to enhance the beauty in every woman she has the pleasure to work with and while doing so helps to build, heal, and support women as well as herself.

What void does your business fill in your current industry?

Makeup by Jamie Dionne is more that just a makeup application. We talk, we laugh, and we work together to bring out the best version of the woman for whatever occasion needed. I love more classic glam looks and I would say, that I am more than an one dimensional artist. I believe I have a style, but I can incorporate a lot of the trends and make them my own because my clients are normally more into the classic sultry looks and that is what I to provide.

Tell us three lessons you’ve learned while operating your business.

I have learned that my spirit and service can put me in positions I didn’t even apply for. I have learned that following every trend can derail your purpose. I have also learned that growth requires sacrifice and to never expect anything to be just given to me.

Mentorships are vital, if you could be mentored by anyone in the world who would it be and why?

Pat McGrath. She is one of the most influential makeup artists in the world. Her being a Black woman makes her even more of an Icon to me knowing some of the hurdles she had to face. The most amazing thing about her is that she never took one class or had professional training but managed to get where she is by taking in so much and learning from everyone around her. She has influence, respect, and power in the makeup industry and has been a part of several makeup lines as a Creative Director. She constantly reminds me that this makeup world is full of opportunity beyond working behind a makeup chair.

Tell us one thing majority of people don’t know about you.

They probably don’t know I work a full time job in Corporate America. When I share with clients that during the week, I work a corporate position in which I have held for 12 years, they are amazed on how I manage and keep things together.

Why do you feel that you should win a COSIGN Award?

I feel like I should win a COSIGN Award because I made a conscious decision when I began this journey back in 2010. The decision to not just be “another” makeup artist. Makeup Artistry has literally saved my life and because of that, I walk into each opportunity to showcase what it truly means for me to have this gift. Creativity is one thing I love about it, but the passion I pour into this brings me so much peace and joy. I take this gift very seriously and I feel like I give back with my artistry by providing a support system to my clients. They know when they come to me that they will leave filling uplifted and happy and to build up women in such a way is and will always be my main focus.

Who do you #COSIGN and why?

I #COSIGN so many individuals in my city, but I have to say some of my faves are Cejae from Asherah Swimwear. I know her story and to see her grow as much as she has amazes me. I #COSIGN Bashia Johnson, my hair stylist and salon owner. Working in her space has shown me so much that goes into owning your own salon and how she manages to support so many others and their businesses inspiring. I #COSIGN the underdogs that don’t have the money to get things off the ground right away but stay at it for years and when they do become successful, they give back by sharing knowledge and skills to help the next person. I #COSIGN, COSIGN because of the opportunity to grow and to make an impact not only in my city, but all over. Keeping up with the movers and shakers in every issue of COSIGN Mag inspires and motivates me to work harder and to become one of those cover stories. Staying connected is key to staying motivated. I support others and in turn, feel the support from others.
