Having gone to many conferences in my life, I always kind of know what to expect, and usually, it’s not too much.  Memorial Day weekend the COSIGN crew went to Atlanta to the #BYOBretreat, and were pleasantly surprised to find that this entrepreneur conference was NOT like the rest.

Quite often the best thing at these type of events is the networking, and the information is usually vague and generic and leaves you wanting more.  BYOB was truly different. KG and I split up and went to different panels, soaking up as much knowledge as possible, while snapping pics and frantically taking notes. And to be honest, I’ve never experienced panels as informative as the ones here, particularly for me, the sessions on real estate investing, using LinkedIn, and getting your books published, and for KG, the Facebook ads and the scaling your business sessions really resonated with him. And while there were large numbers of attendees in each session, there was still an intimate feel to the event.  The panelists took questions from the audience and made themselves available after coming off the stage.  There was a genuineness to the dedication to spreading knowledge. (In coming days, we will be sharing some of the gems we picked up, as we go through all of our notes.) And yes, the networking was priceless.

The keynote sessions were great, especially Karen Civil’s (who also was the COSIGN Issue XXIV cover story), the vendor area was filled with amazing goods and services, the BYOBLive app made the event easy to navigate, everything ran on schedule and the Hilton Atlanta was a beautiful venue.  The people we met ranged from leaders in their respective industries to the hungriest entrepreneurs that were there investing in themselves.  And from COSIGN’s standpoint, they were both people we can do business with and people whose stories we can tell. So if you missed this year, you MUST be there next year, I mean, if you are serious about growing your business and want to “Build Your Own Brand.”
