For those who may not know, what is Sugar Suite Lounge? What’s your story?
Working as a nurse, I not only realized that I had not only had a passion for caring for clients, but also had a passion for caring for their inner as well as outer beauty. I enrolled at Steiner Institute of Esthetics, where I received my State of Texas License of Cosmetology. Within 3 months of being enrolled in the program, I opened up my own business doing eyelash extension only. It soon begin to expand into a full service lounge, offering not only eyelash extensions, but Facials, Chemical Peels, Microdermabrasion, Body Buffing, as well as Spray tanning. I believe that the best way to keep my clients informed is through continuing education courses. I pride myself on attending continuing education classes, trainings, as well as hosting trainings and certifications for other Licensed Estheticians at my lounge. Keeping up with knowledge is the key to being the best esthetician. I believe that investing in your skin is an investment that lasts a lifetime, which is why I opened up my skincare school in June 2018, SSL Skin Institute, right next door to Sugar Suite Lounge.
That’s amazing, what made you initially want to create Sugar Suite Lounge company and what was the process like?
The reason behind my company are my daughters. I want to leave a legacy behind for them. The process was not easy in the beginning, but truly worth it in such a very short period of time.
Tell us what differentiates you from your competitors?
I specialize in skincare services for women and men of color. Specializing in acne clients, hyperpigmentation clients and transforming their skin in short periods of time. Making them feel confident and secure walking out of the house without make on, but a sugar coated glow.
I also offer a variety of services from eyelash extensions, microdermabrasion, vajacials, chemical peels and more. My #1 service is the the Sugar Coated Chemical Peels.
What company in your field are you inspired by and why?
I’m inspired by Lamer Cosmetics. I pray to be inside of department stores with my own skincare line one day. In 2019, I plan on creating my own skincare line.
In your opinion, what’s one misconception about beauty?
One misconception, it that natural beauty is not “in” when in fact, natural beauty is what is preferred and often embraced more.
As much as we love success stories, can you tell us some of your pain points as an entrepreneur and how you overcame them?
Some of my pain points, is seeing how others in your same line of work don’t support one another. I overcame that by always supporting other women in the beauty business in any way that I can. Rather it be word of mouth, social media post, or purchasing a service and or product they may have.
We believe the Power of a #COSIGN is real. Can you tell us how a #COSIGN has impacted your business.Whether it’s been through word of mouth or a reccomendation?
#COSIGN has impacted by business through word of mouth. Many of my business friends “Princess Pope (Guns and Roses) and Cham (Glam by Cham) have been featured in the magazine and because of them and others , COSIGN is giving women here in Dallas a chance to show those in our community, the variety of services that are offered.
